About Overlay

Our Mission

Overlay exists to make internal AI agents understandable and accountable at scale. As agents move from coding environments into browsers, files, finance workflows, and customer operations, organizations need a shared record of what they did and why.

The Problem

Agents like Claude Code and Codex are changing engineering while Cowork and purpose-built internal agents are changing the rest of the business. They can read files, execute commands, browse systems, send information, and make decisions across many tools.

Their work is often fragmented across local machines and SaaS tools. That makes it hard to answer basic operational questions: what happened, what changed, who owned the work, what it cost, and whether policy was followed.

What Overlay Does

Overlay unifies agent sessions, tool calls, file activity, browser actions, network events, cost, and outcomes into one timeline. Teams can investigate individual runs or understand behavior across people, tools, and departments.

The AI Analyst turns that telemetry into answers about developer focus, business workflows, security risk, quality, efficiency, and impact—with the source evidence always close by.

Why We Built This

We saw the same pattern repeat: teams adopted agents quickly, but leaders had no reliable operating view. Security saw risk, finance saw new spend, engineering saw new output, and each group had only part of the story.

Overlay was built to join those perspectives together—an observability and control layer for AI-assisted work across the organization.

Based in Canada

Overlay is a Canadian company. We leverage Cloudflare's global edge network for performance and WorkOS for enterprise authentication, with a commitment to transparent data handling and privacy-first practices.
